Robert J. Shiller ist Ökonomieprofessor an der Yale University. Sein bevorzugtes Forschungsgebiet ist das Verhalten der Teilnehmer an den Finanzmärkten - Behavioral Finance. 1996 gewann Robert Shiller den "Paul A. Samuelson Award", benannt nach einem der einflussreichsten Ökonomen des 20.
