Based on the notion of transnational law, this book analyses the self-regulation of the transnational sports movement. It shows that 'lex sportiva' is made of the various legal systems of the international federations, which the legal order of the International Olympic Committee tends to centralise, assisted by the activities of the Court of Arbitration for Sports and of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The book evaluates the degree of autonomy of 'lex sportiva'. Largely liberated from national rules and badly framed by a too decentralised international legal system, 'lex sportiva' is nevertheless substantially limited by European Law.
