Lengel is Professor and Editor-in-Chief of thePapers of George Washington, a documentary editing projectdedicated to the transcription and publication of originaldocuments, at the University of Virginia. His books includeGeneral George Washington: A Military Life (2005); ThisGlorious Struggle: George Washington's Revolutionary WarLetters (2008), Inventing George Washington: America'sFounder in Myth and Memory (2011), and many others. Lengel is acolumnist for Military History magazine and has appeared indocumentaries about Washington on The History Channel.
