As quantum computers reshape traditional cryptographic security solutions, quantum-secure authentication and key exchange are becoming increasingly critical. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to pre- and post-quantum password-authenticated key exchange (PAKE), focusing on lattice-based structures and their security foundations for real-world applications.

The work covers the conceptual and theoretical foundations and extensively discusses literature, standardization processes, and real-world scenarios. Focusing on post-quantum cryptography, the book classifies and analyzes various lattice-based protocols and discusses security models and practical considerations. Furthermore, it highlights the current challenges and future research directions in the design of post-quantum secure PAKEs.

Topics and features:

?       Offers an in-depth look at the security of today and the future, from the theoretical design of PAKE protocols to real-world applications

?       Covers the theoretical and practical aspects of PAKE for both traditional and post-quantum security

?       Provides a systematic comparison of leading lattice-based PAKE protocols, highlighting design choices, security guarantees, and performance trade-offs

?       Explains the cryptographic primitives, ideas, components, and security features used in the lattice-based PAKE design—with understandable mathematical approaches

?       Summarizes recent developments, real-world applications, open research problems, and emerging directions in the field of post-quantum secure PAKE

This book is primarily intended for graduate students, researchers, and academics in cryptography, cybersecurity, applied mathematics, and computer science. It will also be a valuable resource for security engineers, industry practitioners, and professionals.
