This book allows readers to explore how real-time climate data, artificial intelligence, and biomimicry converge to create sentient, net-zero buildings that actively safeguard both the planet and its inhabitants.

Buildings no longer have to be static objects; they can sense, learn, and evolve. Inside, vivid diagrams trace the journey from generative code to a finished façade. Meanwhile, workflow tables, KPI dashboards, and downloadable scripts translate complex theory into studio-ready practice. Step-by-step chapters unpack bio-digital morphologies, kinetic “thinking skins,” and AI-driven BIM toolkits, followed by global case studies—from Abu Dhabi to Copenhagen—that highlight measurable energy savings and occupant comfort gains. A final look at self-healing concrete, mycelium skins, and energy-harvesting façades previews the next frontier of regenerative design.

Whether you are an architect, engineer, researcher, or advanced student, this book offers a clear road map for balancing daylight, energy, carbon, and well-being across multiple scenarios—reducing iteration time while elevating creativity. In short, it equips you to transform the built environment from passive shelter into an active partner in planetary stewardship.

Prof. Amjad Almusaed, Ph.D—is Architectural Scholar in environmental and sustainable design and holds Ph.D. (Ion Mincu University) with post-doctoral research at Aarhus School of Architecture on bioclimatic housing. Amjad Almusaed is Author of five previous books, including Biophilic and Bioclimatic Architecture (Springer) and more than 185 peer-reviewed papers. He has also edited 20 scientific volumes and reviewed over 400 articles for leading publishers, which has provided him with a broad understanding of the field’s best practices and research gaps.

Associate Professor Asaad Almssad, Ph.D., is Docent and Subject Head in Building Technology at Karlstad University, Sweden. His teaching and research focus on reinforced concrete structures, sustainable construction, BIM, digital built environment, and AI-supported building technology. He has authored textbooks and published widely in construction technology, sustainable building, and material-related research.

Associate Professor Ibrahim Yitmen has served at Jönköping University, Sweden, since 2018. He holds a Ph.D. in architecture from Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on digital innovation in the AEC industry, including digital twins, cognitive buildings, AR/MR, blockchain, and UAV-BIM integration. He has published over 180 peer-reviewed papers, edited books and co-authored monographs with CRC Press and Springer Nature, and actively contributes to international committees such as CIB, ASCE, and EC3.
