James Arthur is Professor of Education at Canterbury Christ Church University. He completed his doctorate at Oriel College Oxford, the College Newman was elected a Fellow. Currently he is Editor of the British Journal of Educational Studies and Director of Citized – an national organisation in higher education promoting citizenship.

Father Guy Nicholls was a Classics Scholar at King's College, Cambridge, taking his first degree there in 1978. He then studied for the priesthood at the Gregorian University in Rome, gaining a Licence in Sacred Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Birmingham in 1983.After serving as Assistant Priest in two parishes in Birmingham and as a Hospital Chaplain, he became a Parish Priest in Oxfordshire. In 1990 he joined the Oratory of St. Philip Neri in Birmingham, the community founded there in 1848 by Cardinal Newman. He is currently the Parish Priest of the Oratory, where he also has responsibility both for the maintenance of the music in the Oratory Church and the restoration of the Oratorian community's house at Rednal, where Newman is buried. He is a member of the Association for Latin Liturgy for which he has written many papers and articles, and is a frequent lecturer in Liturgy and Sacramentla Theology at the Maryvale Catechetical Institute in Birmingham.
