This book explores how environmental management can play a key role in survival and future welfare. In this book, the author moves from offering an introduction to exploring how environmental management can play a key role in Anthropocene survival and future welfare. The author considers potential ways forward to try and enable humans and the Planet's biota to flourish and even perhaps achieve co-evolution with the Earth.
The Anthropocene involves transition: a shift from human damage/exploitation of Earth/nature to managing Earth/nature for nature and humans (possibly enabling co-evolution). The Anthropocene is the current de facto Epoch of mass extinction and crisis and is also a concept with potential. The transition from the current situation is very complex and uncertain. The field is wide involving monitoring, systems management, governance, law, economics, literature and art, social studies, ethics, etc. This book is suitable for Undergraduate and Master’s teaching for agency and professional environmental staff and general readership.
