I am unclear what precisely is being proposed, as the discussion and background of the authors seems to be in polymeric materials, but the table of contents and some of the text focusses on polymer composites. As far as I can tell, what is meant by polymer composites is actually polymer nanocomposites. I would say that "polymer composites" as an expression implies structural materials with high mechanical properties, whereas this seems to be focusing on the functional side and on materials with low mechanical properties. Therefore, as the brief is unclear I am struggling to answer this question. I would anticipate that the focus would tend to be on polymer chemists and polymer physicists and possibly biomaterials engineers. The interest to mechanical engineers/civil engineers is likely to be limited.
