Ken Brown has had a keen interest in terrestrial molluscs since boyhood, and has been privileged to grow up in a land which, despite immense pressures, continues to house a great array of wildlife. He has lived all his life in South Africa, and obtained his LLB degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has undertaken this book as a tribute to the quiet yet irresistible magic of Africa which runs deep in his soul.
