She is also the author of Jane Austen and the War of Ideas (Clarendon Press, 1975), Maria Edgeworth: A Literary Biography (Clarendon Press, 1972), Burke, Paine, Godwin and the Revolution Controversy (ed.) (CUP, 1984), and a biography of Peacock.
