Andres A. Calderon has over 30 years of experience in strategic and information technology roles, specializing in cybersecurity and operational resilience. He currently works as a consultant to several healthcare organizations and previously served as System Director of Cybersecurity at CommonSpirit, leading enterprise Cyber Resilience efforts. He also held senior roles at Centura Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana, overseeing cybersecurity response, recovery, IT service management, network operations, disaster recovery, and identity and access management. Andres has taught master’s-level courses in Analytics, Cybersecurity, and IT, aligning technology and analytics with organizational strategy. He has advised the European Union on crisis management and presented to high-profile leaders, including the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee and presidents of Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

At LSU, he served as Associate Director of the Stephenson Disaster Management Institute, leading major initiatives such as FEMA’s PS-Prep program, the Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center, and the university’s cybersecurity program. He currently teaches IT Consulting, Advanced Python, and the MSA capstone at LSU, and is a Professor of Practice in cybersecurity and technology at Tulane University. As a consultant, Andres developed risk-quantification methodologies for the U.S. Army and FEMA and supported multi-jurisdictional emergency management planning. As CTO and Executive Vice President of First Responder Systems and Technology, he shaped the company’s technology strategy and led business development. Andres holds multiple degrees from LSU, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering and a Master’s in Information Systems and Decision Sciences. He completed postgraduate studies in applied mathematics at the University of Heidelberg and earned an MBA with honors from Tulane University. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Offensive Cyber Engineering. He has co-authored publications on healthcare cybersecurity, AI governance, operational resilience, and disaster recovery, contributing frameworks for layered and agile recovery and advancing practical approaches to ransomware readiness and cyber-risk mitigation.
