Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in like Flash that delivers rich interactive applications for the Web. Silverlight offers a flexible programming model that supports a number of different programming languages and techniques (making it cross-platform) and all major browsers (cross-browser support). There is lots of interest in Microsoft’s Flash killer and several conferences have seen heavy support for the tech.
This book will leverage our existing success in the ASP.NET market and our investment in several Silverlight 3 titles brought to market immediately surrounding the actual Silverlight 3 RTM to target developers interested in practical, ready-to-use code pieces. Readers enjoy these “cut-and-paste” ready solutions that give them a lot of bang for their buck. Additionally, there doesn’t appear to be a competitive recipe-style book announced as of this writing.
