Applied linguists' interests and values have expanded in synergy with evolving technologies over the past decades, and with the tools and concepts developed in other disciplines. Chapelle, Carol A.
Carol A. Chapelle is Distinguished Professor and Dean's Professor in the Department of English at Iowa State University. She has helped define the theory-practice nexus of technology in applied linguistics for over forty years through contributions to a variety of projects. Her awards include the 2012 Cambridge International Language Testing Association Lifetime Achievement Award and the 2015 American Association for Applied Linguistics Distinguished Service and Scholarship Award.
