This book presents the result of an innovative challenge, to create a systematic literature overview driven by machine-generated content. Questions and related keywords were prepared for the machine to query, discover, collate and structure by Artificial Intelligence (AI) clustering. The AI-based approach seemed especially suitable to provide an innovative perspective as the topics are indeed both complex, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary, for example, climate, planetary and evolution sciences. Springer Nature has published much on these topics in its journals over the years, so the challenge was for the machine to identify the most relevant content and present it in a structured way that the reader would find useful. The automatically generated literature summaries in this book are intended as a springboard to further discoverability. They are particularly useful to readers with limited time, looking to learn more about the subject quickly and especially if they are new to the topics. Springer Nature seeks to support anyone who needs a fast and effective start in their content discovery journey, from the undergraduate student exploring interdisciplinary content to Master- or PhD-thesis developing research questions, to the practitioner seeking support materials, this book can serve as an inspiration, to name a few examples.

It is important to us as a publisher to make the advances in technology easily accessible to our authors and find new ways of AI-based author services that allow human-machine interaction to generate readable, usable, collated, research content.

Dr. Smita Chaturvedi is an assistant professor of physics at the Interdisciplinary School of Science, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. She is also the coordinator of the physics program for the B. Sc. Blended Program for the University of Melbourne, Australia. She worked as DST Scientist at IISER Pune during 2013-2019, where she was involved in the first-hand design and execution of the research proposals on the development of nanoscale multiferroic materials and triboelectric nanogenerator for future microelectronics technology, where the low energy consumption devices are needed. She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship in 2018 to work at Oakland University, Michigan, USA, for her research on materials for low-energy devices for IoT. She has completed several international Synchrotron Projects at DESY, Germany; KEK Photon Factory, Japan; Elettra, Italy; and DIAMOND UK synchrotrons, with the aim to understandthe crucial role of structures of multiferroic materials in determining their properties and functionalities. Throughout her research career, her work area has primarily been associated with, but not limited to, structure-property relations and applications of multiferroic nanoscale materials.

Dr. Chaturvedi has been recognized as one of the women luminaries by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), who have made a significant mark in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in 2022. She is a three-time recipient of the Women Scientist Award by the Department of Science and Technology India. In 2022, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) of India granted her the DST-TARE award to advance her work on developing materials for triboelectric nanogenerators. She was awarded the Fulbright Alumni Award in February 2023. She is an active member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and the Society for Material Chemistry India.
