Hillen, Stefanie
Since 2009, Dr. Stefanie A. Hillen has been Associate Professor at the Department of Education, University of Agder. She worked as Visiting Professor at Florida State University, US. She has also held a position as Post Doctor at the Department of ICT, Grimstad, where she developed digital learning environments to topics of Integrated Operations. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Education, University of Mainz, Germany. Her research field comprises technology based learning, general didactic, didactic in VET, and comparative education. At the Teacher Training Center, iesbaden, Germany, she fulfilled a full-time two years educational program and received her graduation as teacher for vocational schools with the Subject in ICT, economics and business administration.
Schlegelmilch, Mary T.
Mary Schlegelmilch received her B.Sc. in Education with concentration in Early Childhood from the University of South Dakota in 1989. Mary studied K-12 Curriculum Development at Black Hills State University receiving an endorsement in middle level education. She earned a M.Sc. in Educational Administration from the University Nebraska Lincoln in 2007. Schlegelmilch has worked in K-12 education in both rural and urban schools. She has experience as a classroom instructor, district curriculum facilitator in the area of eLearning, elementary school principal and post-secondary instructor. She joined Cisco in 2011 as Education Advisor to assist K-12 and higher education institutions transform their teaching and learning environments through the use of technology. Schlegelmilch has facilitated webinars on topics pertaining to the use of learning objects, Open Education Resources, collaborative technologies, and the implementation of blended learning programs.
Redden, RJ
RJ Redden is a technology coach at Queen Ninja Guru. She holds two Master’s degrees at University of Nebraska at Omaha, a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and teaches technology skills to small businesses and nonprofits in the Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa metropolitan area. Redden specializes in Websites, administrative streamlining, and social media campaigns.
Winter, Victor
Professor Winter has been in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Nebraska since 2001. Prior to that he was the Principal Investigator of the High Integrity Software program at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Dr. Winter is the creator of Bricklayer, an educational ecosystem which draws upon his research experiences and insights in the areas of Language design, program transformation, and source-code analysis.
Landis, Melodee
Melodee Landis is an Associate Professor Emeritus of the Teacher Education Department of the University of Nebraska Omaha College of Education. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Dr. Landis has previously held positions as a middle school teacher, a distance learning coordinator at the Nebraska Department of Education, and at the University of Minnesota before joining the faculty at UNO. Her publishings include research on best practices in instructional technology, distance learning, and the development of higher level thinking. Dr. Landis’s current focus has shifted to English Language instruction and reading remediation in which she uses technology as a major tool.
Øysæd, Halvard
Halvard Øysæd has worked as Assistant Professor in the Department of Information and Communication at the University of Agder, Norway, since 2005. His main teaching areas are computer science, the use of multimedia and e-learning. His main research involves e-learning and how the students use study strategies in their learning processes.
Wolcott, Peter
Peter Wolcott holds the Mutual of Omaha Chair of Information Science & Technology and chairs the Department of Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in Business Administration (Management Information Systems) in 1993. He has long-standing interests in the international dimensions of information technologies, and data management. His current research projects are in the areas of service learning and information technology for development. His teaching interests are in data management and information technology for development.
Landis, Melodee

Muyinda, Paul Birevu
Dr. Muyinda holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems specializing in m- and e-learning. He is a Senior Lecturer and Dean of the School of Distance and Lifelong Learning. Dr. Muyinda joined Makerere University in 1998. His other qualifications include: certificate in online facilitation, postgraduate diploma in education (ICT), masters of computer science and bachelor of statistics. He has attended several regional and international e-learning skills improvement training courses. Paul is ardent educational technology teacher, researcher and consultant. He has research interest ICT4E, ICT4D and distance and online education.
Nampijja, Dianah
Dianah Nampijja is a Ph.D. Research Fellow at University of Agder Norway, Department of Global Development and Planning working on mobile learning for enhancing livelihoods in developing regions. Nampijja also holds the position of assistant lecturer in the Department of Adult and Community Education, Makerere University, Uganda, with a M.Sc. in Development Management (University of Agder) and a M.Sc. in Education for Sustainability at London South Bank University. She has trained in ICT pedagogical integration in teaching and learning at Life Academy, Sweden. Her research areas are in ICT for development, mobile learning, workers education, guidance and counselling, and sustainable development.
Barstad, Vera
Vera Barstad was born in Grimstad, Norway. She acquired her B.Sc. and M.Sc. at Agder University College, Norway in 1996 and 2014. Her M.Sc. was on analyzing the quality of student hand-ins in programming classes by using static analysis and machine learning. She has scientific publications and has been working several years in the industry as a system developer.
Isabwe, Ghislain Maurice N.
Ghislain Maurice N. Isabwe is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Agder. He holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technology from the University of Agder, specializing in interaction design and technology enhanced education. His areas of interest include human-centered design of interactive systems; open, distance and e-learning; visualizations and simulations in mathematics education; gamification of learning and mobile learning.
Lazareva, Aleksandra
Aleksandra Lazareva is a PhD Research Fellow at the University of Agder, Norway. She holds a Master’s degree in learning and educational technology from the University of Oulu, Finland. Her main research interests are focused in the area of computer- supported collaborative learning. Namely, she is interested in engaging online learning environments and promoting collaborative interactions among students by means of collaboration scripts.
Mayende, Godfrey
Godfrey Mayende is a Ph.D. candidate in the Faculty of Engineering and Science. Working in eLearning and specifically online learning groups. He has worked at the Department of Open and Distance Learning at Makerere University, Uganda, since 2001. He holds M.Sc. from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU 2007. He attended Australian training in policy and planning of eLearning in teacher education at University of Sunshine Coast. Mr. Mayende also holds Postgraduate Diploma in Education (ICT), University of Cape Town. He is an educational technology consultant and his research interests are: online learning groups, social media for teaching and learning, distance learning, eLearning, collaborative learning and interaction design.
Goodwin, Morten
Morten Goodwin acquired his B.Sc. and M.Sc. at Agder University College, Norway 2003 and 2005 respectively. He received his Ph.D. from Aalborg University in 2011 with the thesis „Towards Automated eGovernment Monitoring“. The Ph.D. was on applying learning algorithms and web-mining techniques on eGovernment indicators which are difficult to Measure automatically. Dr. Goodwin is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of ICT, University of Agder, Norway. Dr. Goodwin’s research interests include data-mining, optimization, and machine learning. Additionally, he has several high ranked scientific publications.
Munkvold, Bjørn Erik
Bjørn Erik Munkvold is Professor of Information Systems at University of Agder (UiA) and Adjunct Professor at Westerdals Oslo School of Arts, Communication and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in business administration from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Dr. Munkvold serves as Director of the Ph.D. program in Information Systems at UiA, and Vice Director of the Centre for Integrated Emergency Management Systems (CIEM). His main research interests are organizational implementation of information systems, crisis informatics, e-collaboration and virtual work, and qualitative research methodology. He is author of the book “Implementing Collaboration Technologies in Industry” (Springer), and numerous articles in leading information systems journals and Conference proceedings.
Auby, Christian
Christian Auby acquired his M.Sc. at the University of Agder, Grimstad, Norway in 2009. Before accepting a full time position at the University of Agder, Christian Auby worked in the field of IT security and software development. Auby is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of ICT, University of Agder, Norway, where he brings his industry experience to students studying for their B.Sc. degree.
Adcock, Phyllis
Dr. Adcock is a Professor in the Department of Teacher Education at the University of Nebraska Omaha, where she has taught for 15 years. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in Curriculum and Instruction, with a minor in Educational Psychology. Phyllis has been in the education profession for 40 years, which include teaching high school in the beginning of her professional career. Dr. Adcock has worked as a administrator for the Kansas State Department of Education. Her main research agendas are human development, learning and the brain, technology and teaching, and college to career transition.
Andersen, Rune
Rune Andersen was born in Haugesund, Norway. He acquired his secondary education teacher with a bachelor’s degree and additional courses at Stord/Haugesund University College in 2000, and received his Master of ICT in learning in 2008 from the same place working on the educational use of games. He has worked as a teacher from preschool to University level, and is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of ICT, University of Agder, working with e-learning and gamification and the pedagogy connected to this. He invented the educational role-playing game “Lærelyst” and has written or co-written 5 books related to this.

Prinz, Andreas
Andreas Prinz studied mathematics and computer science at the Humboldt-University in Berlin, Germany, and received his M.Sc. in mathematics and Ph.D. in computer science there. Since 2003, he is professor at University of Agder in Norway, where he became Head of the ICT department in 2007. His main research areas are systems engineering with particular focus on modelling, Languages and formal methods, as well as advances in teaching based on the advances in technology.
Conway, David F.
David F. Conway is the Associate Dean in the College of Education at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). He serves on the campus-wide, Distance Learning Advisory Committee. The college offers a fully-online Master’s degree program in Behavioral Disorders, a blended/hybrid School Library program, and several courses in other undergraduate and graduate programs. His background and training is in special education, specifically in education of children who are deaf/hard of hearing. He directed a distance training program for teachers in a seven state region. He serves as secretary of the Division for Communication Disabilities and Deafness of the International Council for Exceptional Children. Dr. Conway’s research interests include Language and literacy development, and math and science learning.
Khazanchi, Deepak
Deepak Khazanchi is Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Community Engagement and Internationalization Officer and Professor of Information Systems & Quantitative Analysis in the College of Information Science & Technology at the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO). His current research and teaching interests are focused in the areas of virtual teams and virtual project management, IT risk management and the application of Philosophy of Science in the IS/IT discipline. Deepak has served as the President of the Midwest United States Association for Information Systems and is the Founding Chair of the AIS Special Interest Group for IT Project Management (http://www.SIGITProjMgmt.org).
Lipschultz, Jeremy Harris
Jeremy Harris Lipschultz is Isaacson Professor in the School of Communication, University of Nebraska Omaha, where he has taught since 1989. He holds the Ph.D. in Journalism from Southern Illinois University, USA. His groundbreaking work in the UNO Social Media Lab for Research and Engagement, Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center, focuses on social network analysis. He also teaches and conducts research on communication law and policy, public relations, communication theory and social media Measurement. Lipschultz frequently blogs for the Huffington Post, edits book reviews for Journalism & Mass Communication Educator, and is author of Social Media Communication: Concepts, Practices, Data, Law and Ethics (2015).
Bjørke, Sven Åke
Since 2005 Sven Åke Bjørke has worked as Assistant Professor at University of Agder, Department of Global Development and Planning. Sven Åke Bjørke holds a master in e-learning from the Open University, UK. Previously he was the information manager at UNEP/GRID-Arendal, working on international environmental reporting through the UN and sustainable development. Sven Åke Bjørke was awarded the TISIP Prize for innovative E-pedagogy in 2008. He has also worked as a Field Director in Kenya for the Norwegian Save the Children, for the Norwegian volunteer service, and for the Norwegian Refugee Council in Kosovo. Sven Åke Bjørke’s field of academic research include E-pedagogy and sustainable development.

Paul J.A. van Vliet holds a Bachelor in Business Informatics from the H.E.A.O. in Arnhem, The Netherlands, an MBA from Moorhead State University, and a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Oklahoma State University. He now serves as Associate Professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha. He specializes in information systems development education, online education design, online assessment design, and information systems architecture design.

Surface, Jeanne
Dr. Jeanne Surface, Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, serves a joint appointment for the Rural Futures Institute, as a Star Point Leader for Education, and the Department of Educational Leadership at University of Nebraska Omaha. Surface received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Wyoming and is an experienced Superintendent and Principal. She has served as Chair on 11 dissertation committees, published a book, nine chapters, 16 peer reviewed journal articles, served as editor of two special issues of journals and written over 500 law briefs. Her teaching areas are Public School Law, Qualitative Research Methods, and Advanced Research.
