Jowel Debnath is presently working as Assistant Professor (Selection Grade) in the Department of Livestock Farm Complex (Faculty of Animal Genetics & Breeding), College of Veterinary Sciences & A.H., R.K.Nagar, West Tripura-799008 since 2012. He obtained B.V.Sc & A.H degree from College of Veterinary Sciences & A.H., Selesih, Aizawl, India, in 2009. He did his M.V.Sc & Ph.D in Animal Genetics & Breeding from the Division of Animal Genetics, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, India, in the year of 2011 and 2016, respectively. He was recipient of IPSA Prof. P.K. Pani research award-2015 from Indian Poultry Science Association, ICAR-CARI, Izatnagar, Bareilly, India.

Debnath has edited and published a book namely Duck Production & Management in the year 2022, and has organized various training for the farmers and also acted as resource person in various scientific and skilled development programmes. The editor has completed Department of Biotechnology, New Delhi, Government of India and ICAR Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, Govt. of India funded research project as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, respectively. His area of research is Avian Molecular Genetics.
