Dr. Ahmed F. El-Sayed has been a Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Power Engineering at Zagazig University, Egypt, since 1983. He was a senior engineer at EGYPTAIR for 10 years, working in maintenance, technical inspection, and R&D. He has worked as a researcher in corporate projects with Westinghouse, USA; Rolls-Royce, UK; and European Wind Energy Projects: VUB, Belgium. He is a member of the New York Academy of Science and ten international societies and institutions. He is listed in Marquis Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in America, and Who’s Who in Education.

Dr. El-Sayed has authored 15 textbooks, including (History and Evolution of Aircraft, Taylor & Francis, 2024), (Foreign Object Debris and Damage in Aviation, Taylor & Francis, 2022), (Bird Strike in Aviation, Wiley, 2019), (Fundamentals of Aircraft and Rocket Propulsion, Springer, 2016), (Fluid Mechanics- A Practical Approach, Zagazig University Press, 2000), (Mechanical Engineering Design: A Practical Approach, Al-Ahram, Cairo, 1986), and (Mechanical Engineering Drawing: A Practical Approach, Al-Ahram, Cairo, 1983). Moreover, he published over 100 technical papers and reports in international journals and at conferences on aircraft propulsion, aircraft performance, aircraft engine design, Icing in aeroengine intakes, FOD in fans and compressors of air-breathing engines, and cooling of aircraft axial turbine engines. His research includes automotive aerodynamics, drag force reduction through styling, and the use of add-on devices. Another area of his research is renewable energy, particularly wind energy, and the aerodynamics and dynamics of vertical-axis wind turbines. He designed two horizontal-axis wind turbines (20 and 100 kW), manufactured by the Arab Organization for Industry (AOI), and erected them on Red Sea beaches.

He was a founder and first chairman of the Aeronautical and Spacecraft Department at Zagazig University (2015-2017) and served as chairman of the Mechanical Power Engineering Department (1999-2005). He was an invited speaker and visiting professor to several research centers, universities, academies, and institutions, including NASA Glenn, MIT, Boston University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, Florida, Carnegie-Mellon University, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, University of Central Florida (USA), Royal Military College for Science (RMCS), (UK), Vrije Universiteit of Brussels (VUB) and von Karman Institute (VKI), (Belgium), Tsinghua and Beijing Aeronautical Universities (China), Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology (MIPT), (Russia), Technical Universities of Graz and Vienna (Austria), Al-Fateh University, Tripoli (Libya), Al-Baath University, Homos, (Syria), Tokyo Metropolitan University and Environmental Agency (Japan).

He was awarded the Distinguished Professor Award from Zagazig University in 2009 and the Medal of Long-Life Engineering Distinction by the Egyptian Engineering Syndicate in 2017. He was awarded the Golden Tamikum necklace for scientists on the Egyptian National Honor Roll in 2020. Also, he was awarded the Distinction Medal from the USAF Academy, USA, in 2013; Golden Medal from MIPT, Russia, in 2015; the Distinction Medals from EgyptAir Co. in 2019; Zewail City for Science and Art, Egypt, in 2020; the Chinese Egyptian University in 2022, and the Institute of Aviation Engineering and Technology, IAET, Egypt, in 2023.
