Green finance has become one of the most powerful tools for addressing the urgent global challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, and social inequality. As nations and industries work toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning financial systems with sustainability objectives is no longer optional—it is essential. This volume offers a timely exploration of how financial markets, instruments, and policies can be leveraged to drive sustainable and inclusive development worldwide.

This volume examines the relationship between green finance and sustainable development by presenting both foundational concepts and practical applications. It introduces the principles of green finance and the SDGs, tracing their evolution and highlighting the importance of sustainable financial practices in global economic systems. It further explores how instruments such as green bonds, sustainability-linked loans, ESG reporting, and impact investing are being used to mobilize capital for environmentally and socially responsible initiatives.

The book also investigates the regulatory structures and policy environments necessary to support a strong green finance ecosystem. Through diverse case studies and regional perspectives, it illustrates how governments, businesses, insurers, and financial institutions are integrating sustainability into investment strategies and financial innovation. Topics such as green fintech, climate financing, insurance risk pools, digital currencies, clean energy financing, and ecosystem services valuation provide insight into the expanding scope of green finance.

With contributions from experts across finance, accounting, economics, sustainability, and policy studies, this interdisciplinary volume presents a well-rounded understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in aligning finance with long-term development goals. It is an essential resource for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students committed to advancing sustainable development.
