This volume contains the proceedings of the conference “Model Theory and Groups”, held on 25–29 September 2023 at the University of Münster, in honour of Katrin Tent's 60th birthday.
Model theory and group theory have enjoyed a long and productive interaction. Powerful tools from model theory have led to significant advances in group theory and algebra in general, while questions arising from group-theoretic structures have in turn driven new developments in model theory. The interplay between the two fields continues to be a rich source of deep results and unexpected connections.
This volume presents current research on these connections by leading experts in the field. The articles cover a broad range of topics, including classification theory, groups of finite Morley rank, separably closed and p-adic fields, adele rings, permutation groups and Jordan groups, buildings and Moufang polygons, geometric group theory, descriptive set theory, infinitary logics and group cohomology. Together, they offer a panoramic view of the current state of both fields, pointing towards promising directions for future research.
