This book collects papers that reflect the current phase of developing new paradigms and operational approaches across all disciplines. The intertwining of artificial intelligence and extended realities is making the boundary between the real and the virtual increasingly fluid and offers new ways of approaching and interacting with analytical, transformative, and creative processes concerning tangible and intangible heritage, as well as the shape of new physical and virtual, material and immaterial artifacts. The volume offers an updated panorama of international studies and provides new references to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of scholars, professionals, and academics.

Andrea Giordano , architect and PhD, is Full Professor, and Head of the Department of Civil, Environment and Architectural Engineering (DICEA) at the University of Padova. He is responsible of the Laboratory of Drawing and Representation (LDR) and the Laboratory of Information Modeling (LIM) at DICEA. Member of the Scientific Committee of the Unione Italiana del Disegno – UID and member of the Steering Committee of the international joint research Visualizing Venice (DUKE University, Padua University, IUAV Venice University - visualizingvenice.org), his research interests include: Geometric-configurative interpretation of architectural surfaces: the construction of Padua domes; Representational codes for the verification of landscape design; New “tools” for the Architectural and Urban Historic Transformations Visualization and Multimedia Representation.

Michele Russo , architect and PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of History, Representation and Restoration of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome. His research interests range from integrating 3D sensing techniques in different application areas to the reality-based and interpretive representation of the existing. He has participated in numerous national and international projects on surveying and modelling archaeological areas, architecture, museum apparatus, and Design products at different scales. In recent years, his interests have focused on automatic processing and content construction through Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and visualization systems based on Augmented Reality.

Roberta Spallone , architect and Ph.D., is Full Professor at the Politecnico di Torino, Department of Architecture and Design (DAD). She is a member of the School of Architecture, on the Board of the Doctorate of Architectural Heritage. Her research interests focus on the fields of history and criticism of architectural drawing, with particular attention to classic treatises on architecture and the art of fortification, the interweavings between representation, artificial intelligence and augmented reality. President of REAACH (REpresentation Advances And CHallenges) association.
