INTRODUCES STUDENTS TO THE CORE PRINCIPLES OF RESEARCH METHODS ACROSS THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SCIENCES

Research in Psychology: Methods and Design equips students with the essential tools to understand, evaluate, and conduct psychological research. By presenting experimental, survey, and qualitative methodologies in a clear and approachable style, this leading textbook provides a firm foundation for critical thinking about scientific inquiry. Authors Kerri A. Goodwin and C. James Goodwin incorporate more than 40 detailed research examples and dozens of shorter illustrations to show how methodological principles are applied in real-world studies, encouraging students to connect theory with practice.

Each chapter begins with specific learning objectives, integrates self-tests for comprehension, and concludes with review questions and application exercises—making it an invaluable resource for both independent study and structured instruction. Inclusive language, diverse examples, and a step-by-step approach ensure accessibility and relevance for today’s students and provide instructors with reliable pedagogical tools to reinforce student success.

Research in Psychology: Methods and Design, Ninth Edition, is ideal for undergraduate students at the introductory and intermediate levels. It is recommended for courses in Research Methods in Psychology and combined Research Methods/Statistics courses.
