Each chapter comprises: an overview of the particular style; a 'work-shopped' tune through which key features, including bowing and ornaments, are explored; two further tunes which incorporate these stylistic elements; ideas for further development
of the tunes; and suggestions for further reading and listening. The book also provides general advice on playing traditional fiddle, including learning by ear, tune types and structure, and much more.

Über Autor(innen)

Jane Griffiths studied classical violin and piano at Chetham's School of Music before becoming interested in traditional fiddle. Her unique playing style has led her to perform nationally and further afield with many folk musicians, among them Sharron Kraus, Abbie Lathe, Jon Fletcher, and Lisa Fitzgibbon. She works regularly as a session musician, and has recorded for, among others, Maddy Prior, Simon Emmerson, and Amy Macdonald. She currently plays with English folk
band Telling The Bees and Wod, a trio for French and Breton dance. Jane is also a highly-experienced violin and fiddle teacher and freelance music editor.
