Über Autor(innen)

Angela Hattery, Ph.D., is Professor of the Department of Women & Gender Studies and co-Director of the Center for the Study and Prevention of Gender Based Violence at the University of Delaware. She received her BA in sociology and anthropology from Carleton College and her master’s and doctorate in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is the author of more than a dozen books, including explores the ways in which racial antagonisms are exacerbated by the particular structures of solitary confinement, (2022) and . She has authored more than 60 book chapters and peer reviewed journal articles. She has won numerous awards, including Sociologists for Women in Society 2019 Feminist Lecturer Award.

Earl Smith, Ph.D., is Emeritus Distinguished Professor of American Ethnic Studies and Sociology at Wake Forest University. He is currently Professor of Women & Gender Studies at the University of Delaware and Senior Research Scientist at the Center for the Study and Prevention of Gender Based Violence also at the University of Delaware. He is the author of 12 books, including his most recent books, (2023), (2019), and (2021). In addition, he has published more than 60 book chapters and peer reviewed articles. He is the former president of the North American Society for the Study of Sport Sociology (NASSS) and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards.
