He is the author of two leading criminal law textbooks, Criminal Law published by Macmillan International Higher Education and Criminal Law: Text, Cases, and Materials published by Oxford University Press. He also writes well-known textbooks on family law and medical law. Among his other titles are works on family law and human rights, caring and the law, intoxication and sexual offences.
