Despite the growing number of multilingual learners in schools, there is bias surrounding the students and their families, and false assumptions that language differences mean a difference in academic ability.

In this important book, bestselling author Andrea Honigsfeld applies five essential abilities of equity literacy to multilingual justice, showing how to effectively work with multilingual learners while recognizing their strengths and identifying and addressing inequities and injustices they experience. The book provides educators with a concise, research-backed, and evidence-based analysis of multilingual justice, and offers practical and actionable recommendations to sustain equity for multilingual learners. It is a call to action to dismantle language-based inequities and injustices in our classrooms, schools, and larger educational communities.

Key features include poetry and art, authentic voices from the field; notable current research findings; ready-to-use tools and protocols; and time to pause and reflect. With this helpful resource, teachers, leaders, and teacher educators alike will feel equipped to bring about multilingual justice so their students can truly thrive.
