The 2016 Vienna conference “Crossing Borders – Recent Developments in Research and Conservation in India”, a follow-up of the 2009 New Delhi symposium, celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Austria and India, encompasses recent art historical and architectural studies by Indian and Austrian scholars now published on Agra, Kulu Valley, Dangkhar, Nako, Chamba, Ajanta, Ladakh and Trivandrum. The publication also includes a paper on modern art in Pakistan and features the latest conservation efforts of the Institute of Conservation, University of Applied Arts Vienna, in Patan, Nepal, together with its local partner the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust.

Krist, Gabriela
Gabriela Krist is professor at the Institute of Conservation, University of Applied Arts Vienna, since 1999. She studied conservation at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, as well as art history and archaeology in Vienna and Salzburg. For many years, she worked for ICCROM in Rome and at the Austrian Federal Office for the Care of Monuments (Bundesdenkmalamt), and is a UNESCO Chair holder.
