This open access book discusses the syntactic derivation of non-canonical object constructions in Chinese. A Revised Event Syntax Model and V-Involve to introduce the non-canonical object are proposed, in which the non-canonical object is the necessary element.V-Involve and non-canonical object match CLASSIFICATION and COMPARISON semantic features respectively. In this model, the root must be combined with a specific functional category to obtain the corresponding category. This book provides a theoretical basis for explaining the generation of non-canonical object construction, as the selection of argument and the assignment of theta role are completely separated from the verb. This book also serves as a useful guide to researchers and postgraduate students of non-canonical object constructions in Chinese.
