Xi Lin is a professor at the International Center for Quantum Materials, Peking University, China. He attended college at the University of Science and Technology of China and obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the Pennsylvania State University, USA. His research focuses on many-body problems in condensed matter physics, particularly on two-dimensional electron systems and quantum phase transitions, through the development of special experimental methods at low temperatures. He has also designed and built the world’s lowest-temperature cryogen-free refrigerator, reaching a base temperature of 0.09 mK.
