Der Morgen kommt und mit ihm neue Kunst im städtischen Raum von Chemnitz. INTO THE DAWN - der Name als Programm nimmt die Überraschung mit auf. Keine großen Ankündigungen - die neue Kunst ist einfach plötzlich da. Neun Künstler aus Europa haben sich im Rahmen dieses Projekts der europäischen Kulturhauptstadt nach Interventionsmöglichkeiten in der Chemnitzer Innenstadt umgesehen. Und sie sind fündig geworden. Mancher eher unauffällig, auf beiläufige Entdeckung aus, andere mit kraftvoller Präsenz an zentralen Verkehrspunkten der Autofahrer und Touristen. Immer aber wird der Besucher herausgefordert, mit assoziativer Phantasie, die Werke in den lokalen Kontext einzuordnen. Einige der Künstler haben, ihrer sonstigen Arbeitsweise entsprechend, während ihres Aufenthaltes in der Stadt weitere Spuren hinterlassen. Wenn wir sie aufgespürt haben, stellen wir sie in dieser Dokumentation mit vor.
Into the Dawn
A project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 Morning comes, and with it new art in the urban space of Chemnitz. INTO THE DAWN – the name says it all, taking the surprise with it. No big announcements – the new art is simply suddenly there. Nine artists from Europe have been looking for opportunities to intervene in Chemnitz city centre as part of this European Capital of Culture project. And they have found what they were looking for. Some are rather inconspicuous, waiting to be discovered by chance, others have a powerful presence at central traffic points for motorists and tourists. But visitors are always challenged to use their associative imagination to place the works in the local context. In keeping with their usual working methods, some of the artists left further traces during their stay in the city. Once we have tracked them down, we will also present them in this documentation.
