S. C. Mandal is a Professor in the Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, India and former Head of the Department and former Dean-In-Charge of Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences and former Controller of Examinations (Actg.) of the same university. He is a doctorate from a premier institution, Indian Veterinary Research Institute. He has more than three decades of teaching and research experience in the field of Veterinary Parasitology. He is the sole author of several books, including , , , , . Of these books, two books are amongst the best books of all time as selected by BookAuthority. He has contributed a chapter in a popular book, ‘’. He worked in six prestigious research projects (DBT-2,DST-1,ICAR-1,NATP-1,RKVY-1) in different capacities and acquired vast research experience. He has significant research contribution in the field of immuno-parasitology and molecular parasitology. He submitted forty one gene sequences of different parasites in the GenBank and got accession numbers of those. He was research editor of an international journal and presently he is a reviewer of different scientific journals. He has published many research articles of national and international repute. He got several awards for his significant contribution in his relevant field. He has been included in the National Academy of Veterinary Science, New Delhi, for his contribution to the field of Veterinary Parasitology.
