Maintenance logistics – from fundamentals to Industrial Data Science, AI, and XR

Modern production is highly complex, automated, and subject to constant cost pressure. In this environment, maintenance becomes a strategic key discipline as an integral part of the value chain – not only to ensure availability, but also as a driver of productivity, quality, and sustainability.
This book provides both practical guidance and a solid academic foundation on how maintenance can be made future-proof through the application of logistics methods and new technologies. It also addresses current developments such as Industrial Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Extended Reality (XR).

The book offers:
- A comprehensive overview of costs, benefits, KPIs, and controlling in maintenance
- A well-founded presentation of classical and modern maintenance strategies
- Approaches to Lean Maintenance and Total Productive Management (TPM)
- Procedures for the acceptance and qualification of production equipment
- Forward-looking perspectives on the use of digital technologies in maintenance

The standard reference work on maintenance for practitioners, researchers, and students – up to date, practice-oriented, and at the forefront of cutting-edge technologies.
