This book addresses the transformation of healthcare delivery through virtual care, digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, connected medical systems, and intelligent clinical workflows. It examines how emerging technologies are reshaping the way healthcare professionals deliver continuous, patient-centered, accessible, and data-driven care.

Virtual Care in Clinical Workflows: Transforming Modern Healthcare offers several key advantages that establish it as a valuable reference in the field. It brings together multidisciplinary perspectives on key areas of virtual healthcare, including telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, artificial intelligence and machine learning, the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), electronic health records, clinical decision support, conversational healthcare systems, digital therapeutics, healthcare data privacy, cybersecurity, accessibility, and ethical considerations, addressing both the technological and clinical dimensions of virtual care. A key strength of the book is its focus on the practical transformation of clinical workflows through emerging technologies, examining the application of AI and machine learning in diagnosis, treatment support, chronic disease management, pain management, nutritional planning, clinical documentation, and patient monitoring, alongside the role of blockchain, software-defined networking, intelligent communication systems, and secure data architectures in enabling reliable and scalable virtual healthcare environments. It further addresses important challenges associated with the adoption of virtual care, including data privacy, cybersecurity, interoperability, accessibility, equity, patient engagement, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence, offering a comprehensive perspective on the opportunities and challenges involved in creating next-generation virtual care ecosystems.

The primary audience for this book is researchers, academics, healthcare professionals, clinicians, health informatics specialists, computer scientists, software and network engineers, and postgraduate students working in healthcare technology and digital health. Secondary markets include professionals involved in telemedicine, medical IoT, artificial intelligence, healthcare cybersecurity, clinical information systems, and digital transformation, as well as readers seeking to understand how emerging technologies can support more connected, intelligent, secure, continuous, and patient-centered healthcare delivery.
