The book is divided into three components, namely, water resources management, water supply and sanitation, climate change mitigation and adaptation as well as energy and mineral resources. The case studies of water supply and sanitation are drawn from African countries. The theories considered in these chapters range from Political Ecology, Ecological Economics and Water Governance. The second part of the book is addressing the contemporary issues of alternative energy as part of climate change mitigation and how communities adapt to climate change. It will also discuss local responses by NGOs and communities to floods and other climatic conditions and theories on Ecological Economics and Environmental economics. The final part of the book unpacks the contribution of GECAMINES to the socioeconomic development of African countries.

This book paints a picture of Sub-Saharan Africa on issues of water resources management, water supply and sanitation including the role of mines in the promotion of socio-economic development. It presents how African countries especially Sub-Saharan Africa are addressing the sustainable development goals in the areas of water supply and sanitation, alternative sources of energy as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation.
