Peter Peregrine is professor of the anthropology at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. He serves as research associate for the Human Relations Area Files at Yale University and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dr. Peregrine has dedicated his career to teaching undergraduates and regularly teaches courses on archaeology, research methods, and human evolution. He has also conducted archaeological fieldwork in the United States and Syria trying to understand how and why complex societies evolve and collapse. He is co-editor of the Encyclopedia of Prehistory and has authored or coauthored eleven books, five edited volumes, and over 100 articles, chapters, and reviews., including Anthropology with Carol R. Ember, Human Evolution and Culture: Highlights of Anthropology with Carol R. Ember and Melvin Ember, and World Prehistory: Two Million Years of Human Life.
