Riecks, David
David Riecks is a recognized correspondent on digital subjects and a working assignment and stock photographer, represented by Mira and AGE Fotostock, as well as licensed directly from his own website.

Riecks was an early proponent of digital imaging and has become a "digital guru" to his peers. He is a regular contributor on several professional forums, and gives seminars on creating image-intensive websites. He was a principal developer of Mira's "digital standards," and founded ControlledVocabulary.com as a resource to help others learn how best to build controlled vocabulary lists, thesauri, and keyword hierarchies for describing images in databases.

He currently chairs the SAA Imaging Technology Standards committee which urges industry adoption and of metadata standards. He serves as the Chief Technical Advisor for the PLUS Coalition, which developed the Picture Licensing Universal Standards. Riecks formerly chaired the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) Digital Photography Standards & Practices committee, where he co-founded the Universal Photographic Digital Imaging Guidelines coalition (http://www.updig.org/).

Riecks contributes to the Digital Image Submission Criteria (DISC) and Digital Image Metadata Management (DIM2) working groups organized by the IDEAlliance. He is also part of the IPTC4XMP working groups, which developed the IPTC Core metadata schema for Photoshop CS2, and contributes to the current IPTC PhotoMetadata Working Group, which is charged with making the IPTC Core more relevant for the stock photography industry.

In 2006, he was a featured speaker at the first Microsoft Pro Photo Summit. There, he premiered the Metadata Manifesto, a document that he co-authored with the Executive Director of the Stock Artists Alliance, Betsy Reid and SAA member Rivaldo Does. http://metadatamanifesto.blogspot.com/.
