Dr. Xun Chen is currently a Professor of Manufacturing at Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK. He is also the Board Chairman of International Committee for Abrasive Technology and the editor in chief of the International Journal of Abrasive Technology. Dr Chen's research interest focus on the advanced manufacturing technology for functional engineering surface creation, particularly on the application of intelligent sensing for abrasive machining process control and optimisation.

W. Brian Rowe is Consulting Director and Emeritus Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, UK. He is also former Director of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Tribology Research Laboratory. Professor Rowe is a widely respected researcher in the fields of tribology and grinding.
