GC Datta Roy graduated with honours in electrical engineering from Jadavpur University, India in 1965. He was awarded Ph.D. by BITS, Pilani, India in 1996. He is also alumnus of the Executive Programme of Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, USA in 1990. He had undergone intensive trainings in energy efficiency and conservations including in cogeneration with the then Swiss MNC Brown Boveri & Co in Switzerland in 1970 and energy efficiency and conservation with Asian Productivity Organisation (APO), Japan in 1980. He has over four decades of experience in the energy intensive Manufacturing sector followed by another two decades of Consulting in the domains of energy efficiency and renewable energy. As a CEO and later as an advisor of a leading ESCO, he has been involved in providing policy advisory services as well as implementation services for large number of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the industrial and commercial sectors in many countries including Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, France, China, Ghana, India, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, Spain, Sudan, UAE and USA. Contribution of Dr. Datta Roy in the energy efficiency domain has been globally recognised by conferring of several awards such as ‘Recognition certificate’ from IPMVP (Currently known as EVO), USA, 2007, ‘Recognition certificate’, Dubai Energy Forum, Government of UAE, 2010, ‘Energy Professional Developer of the year’ by India chapter of AEEE, USA in 2010 and as ‘Sustainability leader of the year’ by Parivartan Sustainability Outlook in 2012. Widely travelled, he has published large number of articles in industry journals and magazines and made presentations in many conferences across the globe.
