This contributed volume offers a comprehensive, research-driven perspective on building agricultural resilience through integrated approaches spanning molecular biology, genetics and field-level sustainable practices. The volume is structured into three thematic sections: foundational science and genetic discovery, precision breeding, accelerated improvement, and farm-level implementation with digital and ecological solutions. Chapters explore physio-typic trait landscapes, stress-responsive gene mapping, and multi-omics breakthroughs, alongside advanced breeding pipelines leveraging CRISPR/Cas genome editing, GWAS and AI-driven predictive models. The book also addresses soil microbiome engineering, nano-nutrient innovations, plant immunization strategies and conservation agriculture, linking cutting-edge technologies with traditional knowledge systems and policy frameworks.

By combining molecular insights with agronomic practices and socio-economic considerations, this volume provides actionable strategies for researchers, plant breeders, agronomists and policymakers seeking to mitigate climate risks and ensure global food security. It serves as a critical resource for understanding the interplay between crop genetics, stress physiology, and sustainable farming in the era of digital agriculture.

Dr. Jayanwita Sarkar is currently working as an Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, West Bengal, India. Her research focuses on climate change, stress physiology, and sustainable agriculture, emphasizing staple crops like wheat and rice, along with the underutilized future crops of the Global South. Her current work integrates plant signaling networks, plant-soil dynamics, and multi-omics approaches to understand stress adaptation, while drawing on traditional climate resilient practices that connect environmental responses with agrarian socio-cultural contexts to support global food security.

Dr. Ashish Prasad is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Department of Botany, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, India. He obtained his PhD from BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi in plant molecular biology and has also worked as a visiting researcher at Durham University, United Kingdom. His work spans plant–virus interactions, with an emphasis on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying these interactions and regulatory networks for crop resilience.

Dr. Manoj Prasad , is the Director of BRIC–National Institute of Plant Genome Research (BRIC–NIPGR), New Delhi, India, and Professor in the Department of Genetics, University of Delhi South Campus, University of Delhi. He is a former Senior Scientist and J. C. Bose National Fellow at BRIC-NIPGR. He obtained his PhD in Plant Science from the University of Calcutta, followed by postdoctoral research as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research, Germany. A leading authority in plant genomics and molecular breeding, he has received several prestigious fellowships and awards. His research focuses on genome editing and stress adaptation in crops.
