Artificial Intelligence and the Impact on Higher Education provides valuable insights into the problems AI creates for academia and suggests robust ways forward.

The rise of Artificial Intelligence in recent times has generated much controversy and confusion, particularly in Higher Education. This book is an accessible text that presents a detailed introduction to Artificial Intelligence and examines its use in teaching, research and assessment. Chapters explore the role of the user and how they shape the consumption of AI as well as the unreliable nature of the AI systems currently being deployed, suggesting ways this might be mitigated in the future. The authors then describe how different forms of AI erode the sense of accountability and trust between users and institutions and show the importance of being more responsible in their management of such systems.

This book is ideal for anyone looking to understand the effect and ethical questions AI poses in Higher Education and for higher education leaders, politicians and policy makers involved in the management of AI.
