Free-form bending represents an attractive process to face the challenges of the manufacturing of tomorrow. In this study, the entire process chain of free-form bending is examined with the objective of fostering the industrialisation of the process, with special focus on automotive structural applications. Consequently, in addition to the generation of substantial knowledge regarding the process, tools for the enhancement of the try-out phase as well as the production phase are presented. In this way, the potential of the free-form bending process to face the challenges of modern manufacturing is demonstrated, and the way to the industrialisation of the process is shown.
