Sie gilt als Pionierin des erzählenden, historischen Sachbuchs mittels narrativ aufgezeichneter Interviews von Zeitzeugen. Ihr Werk wurde mehrfach international in den USA und Kanada in der Kategorie „Biografie“ ausgezeichnet.
