Rembrandt is inextricably linked to the city of Leiden. He was born there, went to school and started his career as one of the greatest painters in Dutch history. There is a similar connection between Rembrandt and Leiden University. He enrolled there as a student of literature on May 20, 1620 and did so again, as will appear from this publication, in February 1622. That enrollment and re-enrollment are kept in the University Library, along with numerous other sources about Rembrandt's life and work. In addition, the library owns numerous prints and drawings by Rembrandt, as well as by his contemporaries.
