Bai, Renu Geetha
Dr. Renu Geetha Bai is a senior research scientist working at the Chair of Biosystems
Engineering, Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tartu, Estonia. Her current research focus on algal biotechnology which includes waste byproducts utilization (eg: flue gas, torrefaction byproducts), extraction of high value biomolecules from algal resources, development of value added products from algal biomass. Dr. Renu's research interests are biotechnology, nanotechnology, marine algal biomolecules, nanomedicine, anticancer drug delivery, nanotheranostics, metal/carbon- nanomaterials, liposomes, microbiology, molecular biology, tissue engineering, in vitro cell culture (plant, animal, algae), mammalian (cancer & normal) cell culture techniques, environmental engineering, green chemistry, and electrochemical biosensing. Her current research in EMU is a Bluebio co-fund project towards the production of fish feed from microalgae utilizing the flue gas as a waste valorization concept focusing on the circular economy and valorization of biomass.

Khoo, Kuan Shiong
ChM. Dr. Kuan Shiong Khoo is an Assistant Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Yuan Ze University, Taiwan. His research focuses on the upstream and downstream processing of bioactive compounds such as proteins, lipids and carotenoids (i.e. astaxanthin, lutein and fucoxanthin) as renewable energy from microalgae biomass using various extraction technologies such as liquid biphasic system, assisted-liquid biphasic system and ionic liquids technologies. His research interest also involves in microalgae-bacteria consortium for wastewater, heavy metal, and volatile organic compound bioremediation, algae-based biofuels, and bioplastics, incorporation of Internet-of-things (IoT) and machine learning. He has published over 200+ journal articles (90% are ranked in Q1 journals). For more information, please refer to the follow webpage: https://kuanshiongkhoo.com/
