This guide will help leaders, executive coaches, and organisation development practitioners to enhance the effectiveness of their reflective practice for themselves and their teams.

Containing easy-to-follow exercises and activities based on theory, practice, and the authors’ own experiences, this companion guide to The Wise Leader expands on the Wise Leader model and introduces the Reflective Difference. The first three sections of the book describe the Reflective Difference, three ways in which effective leaders reflect differently to other leaders: Growing With-and-Through Others; Grounded Positivity and Reflective Momentum. The fourth section of the book expands these individual practices for use with teams.

The Reflective Difference is written for anyone seeking to translate the knowledge gained from The Wise Leader into leadership programs or team coaching sessions, or into their everyday practice. It will be of interest to independent practitioners, including team coaches and facilitators, as well as those responsible for leadership development in organisations.

Suzi Skinner is an author, researcher and global leadership advisor whose work challenges the myth of the heroic leader. Drawing on over 25 years’ experience, Suzi advances leadership as a collective practice - experienced with-and-through-others (WATO). At its core is shared sense-making, reflective capacity and collective effectiveness. Her work integrates research and practice to fundamentally reframe how leadership operates in complex organisational systems.

Paul Lawrence enjoyed a long corporate career, leading teams and businesses in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Australia, and Japan. Paul has been working as a coach and consultant since 2007, based in Sydney, Australia, and is a research associate at Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
