Über Autor(innen)

Thom Snaphaan is Associate Professor of Data, Crime & Security Science at the Centre of Expertise for Safe & Resilient Society of Avans University of Applied Sciences. In addition, he is a senior researcher at the Department of Criminology, Criminal Law and Social Law at Ghent University, and guest lecturer at the Netherlands Police Academy. He is a member of the editorial board of the international peer-reviewed journal Crime Science and editor-in-chief of the Dutch peer-reviewed Journal for Safety and Security. His research interests include big data, (quantitative) research methods, environmental criminology, and (financial aspects of) organized crime.

Peter Klerks is a Dutch political scientist and criminologist who has been working in the law enforcement domain since 1993. From 2010 to 2025, he was a strategic consultant at the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service for criminal investigations, intelligence and organized crime. Since 2000, he has held various positions at the Netherlands Police Academy. He also advises and trains government agencies, coaches Organized Crime Field Labs and volunteers in a cold case team. He held positions at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Leiden University, and has produced well over a hundred books, reports, evaluations and peer-reviewed articles.
