This book covers the deformation formulation at the source, the initial tsunami wave, its propagation, and run-up, along with the mathematical formulation for generating the initial wave, its propagation, run-up, and inundation. It discusses the varying nature of water depth in different regions, tsunami arrival times, and wave heights on the coast, including the role of islands near the coast acting as waveguides. Tsunami-induced forces on structures are addressed, including both non-breaking and breaking wave regions, as well as tsunami force and pressure.

- Provides a multi-perspective discussion of tsunamigenic phenomena affecting coastal regions

- Includes studies of tsunamis generated by meteoritic impacts and landslides and their effects

- Offers a complete overview of both mathematical and observational aspects of the tsunami phenomenon

- Explores comparisons between numerical results and on-site tsunami run-up and inundation observations

- Reviews all aspects of tsunami generation, wave propagation, and inundation at coastal sites

This book is aimed at researchers and professionals in geology, geophysics, seismology, natural hazards, and earthquake engineering.

She is retired Chief Scientist and was Head of Earth Process Modeling Group at CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute upto Jan 2022 and later Raja Ramanna Fellow of DAE (Department of Atomic Energy) at CSIR-NGRI, and presently she is WIDUSHI Fellow of DST Govt of India at CSIR-NGRI. Kirti Srivastava's research areas include Mathematical and Stochastic Modeling of non-linear behavior of Earth’s System.

Mounica Jakkula received her Ph.D. from AcSIR (Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research), CSIR–National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Hyderabad, in 2021, under the guidance of Dr. Kirti Srivastava, retired Chief Scientist, CSIR-NGRI. She holds an Integrated M.Sc. (5-year) in Mathematics and Scientific Computing from IIT Kanpur. Mounica Jakkula’s research areas include numerical and mathematical modeling of tsunami generation and propagation due to earthquakes and meteorite impacts.

V.P. Dimri is the former President of the 36th International Geological Congress appointed by the Union Cabinet and Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in 2017. He was a Distinguished Scientist, at the CSIR-NGRI, Hyderabad, India for 3 years (2010-2013) and INSA Senior Scientist for 3 years (2013-2016). He was Dr. Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at Central University of Hyderabad from Nov 2016 till he was appointed President, the 36th IGC. He served as the Director of the NGRI from October 2001 to February 2010. Also, she served as the Director, Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
