The set of methodologies known collectively as real-time data capture (RTDC) is increasingly important in many of the health sciences. This book is the first to focus on RTDC techniques. Based on the collection of real-time data in people's typical environments, RTDC is primarily used with self-reported data, such as medical symptoms and psychological states, but its guiding principles and supporting technologies also provide a framework for scientists to monitor physiological
information such as heart rate, blood pressure, and skin conductance. Contributions from top researchers explain the conceptuial underpinnings of RTDC, discuss how to implement it and analyse the resulting data, and present an array of projects that illustrate the methodology's broad utility.
