Synthesis, properties, and biomedical potential of MXene-polymer composite systems

MXene-based 2D nanomaterials offer unique mechanical, tribological, thermal, and electrical properties that make them highly effective reinforcements for polymeric composites in biomedical contexts. MXene-Polymer Composites for Biomedical Applications systematically addresses the synthesis, characterization, and applications of these materials across drug delivery, cancer therapy, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and wearable health monitoring, connecting materials science with biomedical engineering practice.

The book dedicates chapters to biocompatibility assessment, toxicity evaluation, and environmental sustainability of MXene-polymer systems. Real-world case studies illustrate how these composites perform in medical treatments, diagnostics, and biosensing platforms. Readers gain detailed coverage of fabrication methods, structure-property relationships, and application-specific design considerations that inform both laboratory research and translational development.

The book also covers: - Polymer nanocomposite reinforcement strategies leveraging the tribological and electrical properties unique to MXene 2D nanomaterials for biomedical use
- Biosensing platform design using MXene-polymer composites with detailed discussion of sensing mechanisms and performance characterization approaches
- Drug delivery system architectures incorporating MXene-polymer matrices, including controlled release strategies and targeted therapeutic delivery frameworks
- Wearable health monitoring device applications demonstrating how MXene-polymer composites enable flexible, electrically conductive biomedical sensor systems
- Environmental sustainability considerations for MXene-polymer composite fabrication, addressing lifecycle analysis and ecologically responsible material design choices

Designed for materials scientists, polymer chemists, inorganic chemists, biochemists, and bioinorganic chemists, this reference connects MXene-polymer composite science with translational biomedical applications. Researchers and industry professionals working at the intersection of nanomaterials and healthcare will find focused guidance on synthesis, characterization, and application design.
