Sorin Toma B Sc, GDEE, CISM, MIEEE, MACS

Sorin Toma is a cybersecurity and digital risk executive, board advisor, transformation leader, and author with more than 35 years’ experience spanning business, technology, cybersecurity, and organisational transformation. Beginning his career as an analyst programmer, Sorin progressed through senior leadership roles with global organisations including Accenture, Deloitte, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Sun Microsystems, and LogicaCMG, where he held executive responsibilities across technology, government, defence, telecommunications, utilities, and critical infrastructure sectors.

Throughout his career, Sorin has built a reputation as a pragmatic leader who bridges the gap between business strategy, technology, risk, and cybersecurity. He has worked with boards, executives, and leadership teams to translate cyber risk into business decisions — helping organisations strengthen resilience, reduce exposure, improve maturity, and safely pursue digital transformation.

Sorin’s experience includes board advisory, interim CISO roles, cybersecurity strategy development, enterprise risk management, major transformation programs, post-merger integration, and the delivery of complex business initiatives where effective risk management was critical to success. He has led programs ranging from cybersecurity uplift initiatives to large-scale transformations and has built and led global teams across diverse industries.

His career has included leadership roles such as Managing Director Utilities at LogicaCMG, General Manager Federal Government and Defence at Sun Microsystems, CISO and cyber executive roles, and advisory positions supporting boards and senior executives.

Sorin is passionate about raising cybersecurity awareness among business leaders, governments, and communities. He has contributed to industry publications, spoken at conferences, appeared in media interviews, and advised executives on navigating cybersecurity challenges in an increasingly complex digital world.

He holds qualifications from Griffith University, the University of Technology Sydney, and Harvard Business School leadership programs, is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and an ISACA Sydney Chapter Board Director.
