Digitalities are shaped by time, place and relations of power, and therefore take fundamentally different forms. The contributors to this volume explore the forms of agency fostered by digital systems, the dependencies they produce, and the ways in which their extractive, authoritarian and colonial structures might be subverted. In doing so, they offer a multifaceted and ambivalent account of the digital across aesthetic, social, political and economic contexts. Bringing together critical analysis with artistic and speculative approaches, the volume proposes a transdisciplinary perspective on debates at the intersection of digitalities and art. The book emerged from the (Un)Learning Digitalities programme at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig.
